Two-day int’l conference begins Friday at DU

A two-day international conference has begiun on Friday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Dhaka University (DU) campus. 

DU Sociology Department is organizing the conference titled "South Asian Sociology" marking its 60 years anniversary, said a DU press release here on Thursday.

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury to address the inaugural session of the conference as the chief guest while former president of the International Sociological Association and prominent sociologist Padma Bhushan Prof TK Oommen will address as the chief speaker. 

DU Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad will address the conference as the special guest while AKM Sa'aduddin Ahmed, Prof BK Jahangir and Prof Anupam Sen will attend as guests of honor. 

DU Sociology Department Chairman Prof Dr Nehal Karim will preside over the conference.
