JSC, JDC pass rate falls by 9.41pc

The results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations have been published on Saturday.

The pass rate and number of Grade Point Average (GPA-5) achievers in this year’s JSC, JDC examinations marked a significant fall compared to previous year results. 

The pass percentage of the Junior Secondary Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations has come down to 83.65 percent from 93.06 percent.

A total of 20,18,271 students have passed this year’s JSC, JDC examinations which is 9.41 percentage points lower than that of last year.

Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her residence around 12am.

A total of 1,91,628 candidates achieved GPA-5 this year, which were 2,47,588 last year.

The JSC and JDC examinations were held between November 1 and 18. A total of 24, 68,820 students from 28,621 educational institutions appeared in this year’s examinations. Of them, 11, 44,778 are male and 13, 24,042 female.

The number of JSC examinees is 20, 90,277 while 3, 78,543 examinees participated in the JDC examination this year.

A total of 659 students from nine overseas centres appeared in the JSC examinations.

To get the result through SMS, a JSC or JDC student will have to type ‘JSC or JDC first three letters of board roll number 2016’ and send text message to 16222.
