Taka 8,000-cr allocated to public universities: UGC Chairman
Chairman of University Grants Commission Prof Abdul Mannan has said more than Taka 8,000 crore were allocated for quality improvement of infrastructure, technical, education and research of the country’s public universities during last nine years under the present government.
Prof. Mannan said the public universities will get Taka four crore every year for quality improvement of research.
He was inaugurating a three-day ‘International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)’ at central auditorium of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Wednesday evening as the chief guest.
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of RUET organized the conference in order to take the technological growth one step forward.
The ICEEE aims at focusing the rapid strides and technological advancements in EEE in recent years. It aspires to open a forum for technical excellence and exchange of technology between technocrats, research scholars, and representatives from the academia and industry.
RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg, Prof Saifur Rahman from USA's Virginia Technology, Prof Faz Rahman from Australian New South Wales University and Prof Shila Shahnaj from BUET spoke as special guests.
Prof Mannan said the conference is expected to provide a highly interactive platform in which leading experts and researchers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering can discuss recent scientific advances and seek cooperation from all over the world.
Engineering and technology play pivotal role in the development of today’s world. Widespread research and innovative practices are propelling the world to a new plateau of development.
Large number of academics and researchers from home and abroad joined the conference.
