Prof Mahmudul gets Japanese FM’s commendation
Japanese Foreign Minister’s commendation was conferred on artist Mahmudul Haque on Saturday at the official residence of Japanese ambassador Hiroyasu Izumi on the occasion of National Day reception to celebrate the birthday of Emperor of Japan, said a press release.
Haque is a professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Dhaka University.
On July 20, 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan decided to confer the commendation on Haque for his great contribution towards enriching friendship between Bangladesh and Japan through paintings for more than 30 years.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries.
At the ceremony, ambassador Izumi expressed his sincere appreciation to Haque, who got a master’s degree in Fine Arts at Tsukuba University, Japan, in 1984 and since then, has taught many Bangladeshi students the beauty of Japanese art being a teacher at faculty of fine arts of Dhaka University.
