Golam Samdani reappointed as VC of Green University

Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir has been reappointed as the vice-chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) for the next four years, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

He has been serving as the VC of the university since 16 May 2013.

Prof. Golam Samdani also served as the Pro-VC and Director TLC of BRAC University from 2009 to 2012. He was visiting professor of SIT Graduate Institute, Brattleboro, Vermont, USA from 2006 to 2009.

He worked as Director- BRAC Training Division & was Academic Chair for Post Graduate Diploma Program in NGO Leadership and Management under Global Partnership for NGO Studies from 1997 to 2006.

Prof. Samdani Fakir, one of the co-founders of Global Partnership, is an internationally renowned educationist, trainer and researcher with 30 years extensive professional experience in NGO management, sustainable development, social change, organizational development, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, rural development, development studies and international public health.

He was directly involved in the initial developmental process of BRAC University, and was one of the facilitators of BRAC University Initiative for Learning and Development (BUILD).

A number of his research publications have been published in national and international journals.

He received Global Awards for excellence in education, leadership and teaching from World Education Congress, Mumbai, India on 29th June 2012.

For his contributions in Afghanistan and Global Partnership Program, he was also selected as one of the recipients of the Rapport Bangladesh 2004 Award for Excellence in Human Resource Development. He has got Atish Dipankar Award.

Prof. Samdani Fakir has had a brilliant academic career. He graduated with Hon’s and Masters in Economics from the University of Dhaka. Subsequently he received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial Economics from Academia De Studii Ecomice, Bucharest, Romania in 1982. He was born in an aristocratic muslim family in 1952. His father was late Mowlana Ataur Rahman Fakir and his was late Rebeya Khatun Fakir. He blessed with one son.
