Sanjida Khatun appointed as ‘Ahmed Sharif Chair’ Professor at DU
Former Professor of Dhaka University (DU) Bangla Department Dr Sanjida Khatun has been appointed as `Ahmed Sharif Chair` Professor at the same department.
She was appointed as the first professor for the newly launched chair at DU Bangla Department and will carry out different research activities at the department during her one year tenure as the `Ahmed Sharif Chair` Professor, said a DU press release today.
Dr Sanjida Khatun was born to Professor Kazi Motahar Hossain and Sajeda Khatun in 1933. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degrees in Bangla Language and Literature from Dhaka University in 1954 and 1955 respectively.
She also obtained her PhD and post doctoral degree from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan in India and received D. Litt degree from the same university in 2008, the release added.
Besides, she was awarded with `Ekushey Padak` by Bangladesh government in 1990, `Sadat Ali Akanda Award` by Bangla Academy in 1998, `Bangla Academy Literature Award` in 1999 and `Rabindra Award` by Bangla Academy in 2010, it said.
