HC questions legality of HSC admission policy

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday issued a rule asking officials concerned to explain in four weeks as to why it shall not declare illegal the HSC admission policy.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice A.K.M. Zahirul Hoque passed the order after holding primary hearing on a writ petition filed by Advocate Eunus Ali Akand.

The court ordered four officials including Dhaka Education Board Chairman to reply the rule. The court also asked to keep the admission process in Viqarunnisa Noon College out of the policy of enrolling students on the basis of Grade Point Average (GPA).

With this new order, the HC has so far ordered to keep admission process in four colleges out of this policy. The other three colleges are Notre Dame College, Holy Cross College and St. Joseph College.
