DU student drowns in pond

A first year student of Dhaka University (DU) drowned in a university pond on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Jony, a student of applied chemistry department.

Earlier on Monday, he along with his friends went to the pond inside Saheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque hall on the campus for swimming around 10am. At one stage, Jonny suddenly sank there.

On information, the firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued Jonny. He was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.

He was a resident student of Fazlul Haque Musilm hall.

Amzad Ali, acting proctor of the university, confirmed the matter.
