Career seminar held at DU

Speakers at a seminar on Saturday suggested university students to determine their goal and take preparation accordingly for the job market. They also suggested the university graduates to become entrepreneurs instead of chasing for job.

The speakers said this while addressing a seminar titled ‘Career Prospects for University Graduates in Bangladesh: ‘Expectations vs. Ground Realities’ held at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Social Science Building of Dhaka University (DU).

Institute of Health Economics of DU and RRAN-RFL Group’s sister concern Carrier Builders jointly organized the program while PRAN-RFL Group, IFIC Bank, Bisk Club, online job portal Jago Jobs and Jagonews24.com sponsored the program.

Addressing the occasion, Dean of Social Sciences Faculty of DU Prof Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed said, “There must be a link between universities and institutions. It will help university to know demands of institutions. Then it is possible to design syllabus according to their need.”

NRB Global Bank chairman Nizam Chowdhury said, “All want to do job. But why? We need to look for something else.”

He suggested university graduate to become entrepreneurs and said his bank will extend necessary support in this regard.

Prof Syed Abdul Hamid, Director of Institute of Health Economics, Mizanur Rahman Jottder, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Uzma Chowdhury, Director Finance of PRAN-RFLGroup, Jalaul Azim, Managing Director & CEO of Pragati Life Insurance Limited, Haikal Hashmi, Deputy Managing Director of IFIC Bank, Tariq Uz Zaman, Director (Strategy planning and Marketing) of Aftab Bohumukhi Farms Limited (ABFL), among others, spoke on the occasion.
