‘Mass media should never compromise’
Academicians and civil society members said that media should never compromise no matter what obstacles they face.
They urged media to work as a watchdog and to uphold people’s right.
They made the call at in the first National Conference on Mass Communication and Journalism held at Dhaka University. The two day long conference ended today. The theme was ‘Mapping the Terrain of Mass Media Research in Bangladesh: Critical Perspective. Noted academicians discussed the objectivity, credibility and transparency of mass media in Bangladesh. Dozens of papers on the issue were presented at the conference.
Jagannath University Mass Communication and Journalism department Lecturer Nur-E-Makbul, and Bangladesh University of Professionals Mass Communication and Journalism department Lecturer Mehnaz Hoque Rocky presented their papers in the second day of conference titled ‘A Jihad for Love: Story of a Parallel Love: Media representation analysis of global LGBT community’.
Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism department chair Prof Mofizur Rahman thanked to all paper presenters, panel chairs, colleagues, organizing committee, abstract review committee, sub committees, volunteers, students, discussants, journalist friends, staffs, contributors and conference audience for making the two day long First National Conference on Mass Communication and Journalism 2016 a grand success.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it on Tuesday.
