3 factories get Tk 12.23cr to pay workers' arrears

The government has given around Tk 12.23 crore to three factories to pay salary and allowance of workers before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Shakhawat Hossain shared this information in a press conference on Thursday, March 27.

Besides, a factory of TNZ Apparels Limited which faces unrest sold its vehicle to pay the arrears of workers.

He said about Tk 1.23 crore has been given to Roar Fashion Ltd from the Ministry of Labour and Employment to pay the dues of workers but this initiative will not be extended for anyother company.

Apart from this, the Bangladesh Bank cleared around Tk 11 crore cash support for two factories of Mahmud Group under the initiative of the labour ministry for the payment of workers' arears, Shakhawat added.
