Yunus to pitch Bangladesh to over 200 Chinese investors

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will meet over 200 Chinese investors during his four-day state visit to China starting March 26.

BIDA Executive Director Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun revealed it at a press briefing Sunday at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road.

Ashik said many investors have shown interest in Bangladesh, particularly in advanced textiles, garments, renewable energy, and light engineering.

“China leads investment here, and this visit could draw more,” he added, expressing optimism about the talks. The trip follows an invitation from China.

It will be a four-day diplomatic dance at China’s invite, but BIDA is betting on deal making. “Many investors are already keen,” he told reporters, listing hot sectors—advanced textiles, garments, renewable energy, light engineering—where China’s cash could land. With Beijing topping Bangladesh’s investor charts, this trip’s less handshake, more hard sell.
