27,000 tonnes of rice arrive from India

A shipment of 26,935 tonnes of rice imported from India arrived in Bangladesh on Saturday (January 11). The vessel, which departed from Kakinada Port in Andhra Pradesh, reached Chittagong Port at 7:15pm, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Food.

The rice was imported under an open tender agreement, marking the second consignment of rice from India under the current interim government.

Samples of the rice will be collected and subjected to physical testing before unloading begins. The Ministry of Food has confirmed that all necessary preparations have been made to facilitate the unloading process.
