Gold price hits Tk 1,40,271 per bhori

The price of gold in Bangladesh has risen again, with the cost of a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold increasing by Tk 1,878 to Tk 1,40,271. 

This adjustment follows a hike in the local market price of acid gold (pure gold), according to the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS). 

The new rates will take effect from Thursday, December 12.

BAJUS announced the decision in a statement signed by its Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee Chairman, Masudur Rahman. 

The committee made the decision during a meeting on Wednesday, December 11, marking the second increase in less than a week.

Updated gold prices

22-carat gold: Tk 1,40,271 per bhori (up by Tk 1,878)

21-carat gold: Tk 1,33,903 per bhori (up by Tk 1,808)

18-carat gold: Tk 1,14,774 per bhori (up by Tk 1,540)

Traditional gold: Tk 94,257 per bhori (up by Tk 1,318)

Previous increase on Dec 10

On December 10, the price of a bhori of 22-carat gold rose by Tk 1,166 to Tk 1,38,393. The 21-carat gold price increased by Tk 1,097 to Tk 1,32,095, while the 18-carat gold price climbed by Tk 945 to Tk 1,13,234. Traditional gold saw an increase of Tk 805, bringing the price to Tk 92,939.

Silver prices unchanged

Despite the rise in gold prices, silver prices remain stable:

22-carat silver: Tk 2,578 per bhori

21-carat silver: Tk 2,449 per bhori

18-carat silver: Tk 2,111 per bhori

Traditional silver: Tk 1,586 per bhori
