Expats send home Tk 20,700cr in first 23 days of Nov
Remittance inflows have shown steady growth since the start of the 2024-2025 fiscal year. In November, the upward trend continues as Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $1,726.4 million in the first 23 days, equivalent to approximately Tk 20,716 croreat the exchange rate of Tk 120 per dollar.
Daily inflow surges
According to Bangladesh Bank data, remittances are arriving at an average of $75 million (Tk 900 crore) per day. At this pace, total remittances for November are expected to surpass $2.25 billion, marking another strong month for expatriate income.
In the first 23 days of November: State-owned banks received $640 million, specialised banks (e.g., Krishi Bank) received $131.04 million, private banks accounted for $951.11 million, foreign banks handled $4.08 million.
However, nine banks failed to receive any remittance during this period. These include: Bangladesh Development Bank (BDBL) and Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB), Community Bank, Citizens Bank, ICB Islami Bank, Padma Bank, and foreign banks abib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, and State Bank of India.
