No plan to keep ailing banks afloat with liquidity: Governor
Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur talks to media at the bank’s board room on Tuesday

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur announced on Tuesday that no illegal liquidity support will be extended to banks, including Islami Bank, that are facing difficulties.

“We will take action against individuals involved in irregularities, not against the institutions themselves,” Mansur stated.

Addressing the status of weak banks' boards, the governor mentioned that the dissolution of a board is a procedural matter.

He made these comments during a press conference held in the central bank's boardroom on Tuesday (August 20). Deputy Governors Dr Habibur Rahman, Nurun Nahar, and other officials were also present.
