Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen confirmed that ongoing projects in Bangladesh funded by China will continue.

The ambassador shared this update on Tuesday (August 20) at 11:30am after a meeting with Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Wen told journalists, "This was my first meeting with the finance adviser since the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh. We had a fruitful discussion, and relations with the interim government will continue.”

He also mentioned that they discussed the ongoing Chinese-funded projects in Bangladesh, emphasising that these projects would proceed as planned. Additionally, there was a conversation about the need for new support, Wen added.

When asked about the interest rates on Chinese loans, the ambassador acknowledged the concerns raised by Bangladesh and noted that there is room for further discussion on the matter.
