We've forex reserves for 4.5 months: State Minister
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu has claimed that the country has foreign exchange reserves for four and a half months.
"It's enough for us to have reserves for three months as per IMF rules but we have reserves for four and a half months," he said.
Titu said this in reply to a question from the journalists at the inaugural ceremony of the BSCIC Entrepreneurs Fair in Tangail district town on Saturday.
He said if the expatriates send more remittance and the export earnings increase a bit, the country will move forward much.
Mentioning that there is a gap between import and export, he said, "Direct foreign investment is needed to fill the gap. We have received promises from many countries and if they invest, we can work freely."
About the potato price hike, he said the price of the vegetable in Bangladesh is lower than that of the world's 93 countries.
The markets are being monitored through local administration to keep commodity prices under control ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the state minister added.
