Govt to procure 1.70 lakh tons of fertilizer

The government has approved a few proposals to procure around 1.70 lakh tons of fertilizer for the current fiscal year.

The approvals came at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) held on Wednesday, with Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali presiding over it virtually.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Division's Coordination and Reforms Secretary Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan said the fertilizer - 90,000 tons of urea, 40,000 tons of MOP and 40,000 tons DAP - will be procured from Canada, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and local company KAFCO at Tk 632.72 crore.
