Expatriates send $201cr remittance in January

The expatriate Bangladeshis sent remittances of around $201.01 crore (equivalent to about Tk 22,110 crore) in January, the seventh month of the current fiscal year 2023-24.

The amount is about $2.03 crore more than that of December when the country saw $198.98 crore in remittance, a source in Bangladesh Bank said on Thursday.

BB officials said raising incentives for remittances encouraged expatriate Bangladeshis to send more remittances through official channels.
