HC wants high-level committee to prevent rise in essential agro product price
The High Court (HC) on Sunday ordered to form a high-level committee to prevent rise in the price of essential agro products like potato, onion, garlic and egg.
The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah passed the order, asking the commerce secretary and agriculture secretary to form this committee and submit a report within a month.
The court also issued a rule, asking authorities concerned to explain as to why the court shall not declare their failure in preventing the price hike, illegal and why it shall not pass an order to run market management at the place of production of agricultural products.
Advocate Monoj Kumar Bhoumik moved the case before the court while Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy stood for the state.
