The National Board of Revenue has extended the income tax returns submission date to December 31 for the convenience of the traders and the taxpayers.

NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem announced the time extension at its conference room at capital Dhaka's Segunbagicha on Wednesday.

He said they took the decision on Tuesday considering many trade bodies' demand to extend the time and for the convenience of people.

The NBR chief also urged all to submit returns at the beginning of the month to avoid long queues.

This year around 22 lakh income tax returns were, so far, submitted.

Today (November 30) is the last date for submitting income tax returns as previously announced.
