Refiners propose to hike soyabean oil prices

The edible oil refiners have proposed the government increase the maximum retail prices of bottled soyabean oil by Tk 20 to Tk 205 per liter as US Dollar strengthed against Taka. 

It also proposed to raise the MRP of loose soyabean oil by Tk 14 to Tk 180 per liter and five-liter bottle by Tk 50 to Tk 960.

The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association made the proposal in a letter sent to the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission on August 3.

The BVORVMA leaders said the import costs of edible oil increased as the US Dollar rose sharply against Taka. That is why they urged the government to adjust oil prices.
