ADB forecasts 6.9pc growth for Bangladesh
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has forecasted that Bangladesh's GDP growth rate will grow 6.9 percent at the end of the fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 and it may reach 7.1 percent in the end of FY 2022-23.
ADB Country Director Edimon Ginting said this while unveiling the Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2022 at the lender's Agargaon office in capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
The increase in government spending, active participation of the private sector, internal demand, and export are playing role in this growth, he said.
The country director also said Bangladesh's inflation rate will rise to 6 percent in FY 2022 due to an increase in prices of food products, consumer goods, gas, and oil.
