MDB opens various govt services
The account holders of Midland Bank Limited (MDB), who are registered users of midland online, the Bank’s internet banking application, will now be able to pay various Government fees like e-passport (new), income tax, VAT, duty/tax, surcharge without visiting a Branch, accessing the Automated Challan System (A Challan), from home or office, a press release said.
The revolutionary service was officially launched on 15 September 2021 at a simple ceremony held at the Board Room of the Bank's Head Office in Gulshan. Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank Mr. Md. Ahsan-uz Zaman said, ‘Midland Bank has always been at the forefront of offering digital banking services and the feature of being able to pay e-passport fee and Government tax and VAT, using a computer from home or office, is a significant value addition in the convenience that the Bank always strives to bring for its individual customers. I thank the Government to allow Midland Bank to collect such fees on behalf of the Passport Authority and the National Board of Revenue’.
Previously, under an agreement with Bangladesh Bank, customers were paying all their various Government fees at the counters of the Branches through Automated Challan System (A Challan), which will continue simultaneously.
