PRAN Dairy collects milk from farmers amid lockdown

PRAN Dairy Limited, the country’s leading dairy processor, has continued to collect all milk from its contractual dairy farmers at a time when the farmers are facing difficulties to sell milk due to ongoing lockdown across the country to curb the covid-19 transmission, a press release said.

As covid-19 has been increased, the dairy processor is also giving direction and creating awareness among the farmers so that they can collect and supply the milk to the collection center following proper health guidelines.

Maksudur Rahman, Assistant General Manager (Operation) at PRAN Dairy, said, “We always collect milk from our 12 thousand contractual farmers regularly. Now, Dairy farmers cannot sell milk as hotel and sweet shops are now closed. But we are collecting milk from the farmers the whole amount they are carrying to our centers. We are providing the products among the customer’s doorstep at various metropolitan areas including Dhaka, Sylhet, and Chottogram after processing at our factory. ”

He also said that PRAN has five hubs located at Chatmohar of Pabna, Gurudaspur of Natore, Shahjadpur, and Baghabari of Sirajganj and Rangpur.  There are 101 collection centers under the hubs. Recently, we have taken initiatives to increase our collection center in the Southern region. Meanwhile, we have set up some collection centers at Satkhira and also started collecting milk there. Farmers are supplying milk at the collection and chilling centers maintaining social distance and following health guidelines.”

Kamruzzaman Kamal, Marketing Director at PRAN-RFL Group, said, “We are able to provide products to the customers due to the government move to keep the supply of agriculture, dairy, and other essential products normal.”

He also said, “Government encourages people to stay at home in corona situation. The demand for milk generally increases in the month of Ramadan. Considering this, we have introduced home delivery facilities so that they can collect milk and milk-related products at home. We are delivering PRAN liquid milk, ghee, powder milk, flavored milk, yogurt, cheese, butter through Daily Shopping, Shwapno, Agora, and e-commerce site othoba.com and chaldal.com.”
