Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim on Wednesday said that the government is formulating a policy to safeguard the poultry and dairy industries of the country.

He made the remarks at a meeting with the Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB) and Bangladesh Agro Feed Ingredients Importers & Traders Association (BAFIITA) at the secretariat, reports UNB.

Poultry and dairy industries will be provided with the highest benefits in the policy, he said, adding that the government will do its best to help the sector develop.

“Covid-19 has damaged many industries of the country. There is no alternative to the advancement of the poultry and dairy industries to run the rural economy and alleviate poverty,” he said.

He urged AHCAB and BAFIITA representatives to operate trade activities with responsibility after making the market economy stable.

“Traders should play a positive role to keep the market under control by stabilising the prices of poultry and domestic animal feeds,” the minister said.

“We must keep working considering the interests of each other,” Karim told the association leaders.
