Chronology of national budgets

Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal is set to place the national budget for 2020-21 fiscal (FY21) at the Jatiya Sangsad today.

This will be the country’s 49th budget and the 21st by the Awami League government in five terms while Tajuddin Ahmed presented the first budget as the finance minister of the post-independence Bangabandhu Government in 1972, reports BSS.

Being longest serving finance minister AMA Muhith and Saifur Rahman presented 12 budgets each at different terms of their respective governments.

Muhith, however, remained to be the lone finance minister to present the budget for 10 consecutive fiscals from 2009 until he went on retirement after the end of last parliament in 2018.
