PRAN starts collecting 5,000 metric tons of mung bean from farmers

Local business conglomerate, PRAN has started collecting mung bean from its contractual farmers in different districts directly maintaining necessary safety.

The agro processor said it has been collecting the mung bean to stand by the farmers amid this corona outbreak so that they do not face any obstacle to sell their produce.

PRAN in this year is collecting mung bean from Natore, Bhola, Patuakhali and Barguna for manufacturing PRAN fried mung dal, PRAN mung dal, dal mix and PRAN haleem mix.

The company sets target to collect 5,000 metric tons mung dal for this season. The collection has started from May and will continue till first week of July, said a press release on Wednesday.

PRAN Agro Business Chief Operating Officer Mahatab Uddin said, “Our contractual farmers have cultivated mung bean at more than 4,300 acres of land this year and we are collecting the mung bean at Taka 60 to Taka 70.”

Now PRAN has 4,000 contractual farmers to produce mung bean, he added.

Mahatab said February to March is the proper time to cultivate mung bean. PRAN always gives support to the farmers by providing training, high quality seed and pesticides during cultivation.

“After collecting the mung bean, we process it at our Natore and Narsingdi’s Ghorashal factories,” he added.
