Banks to stay open on Friday, Saturday

All banks situated under Dhaka's two city corporations have been asked to continue activities next two holidays-- Friday and Saturday-- for convenience of the candidates in the city polls to deposit security money.

The Election Commission (EC) made the direction in a letter signed by EC deputy secretary Md Atiar Rahman on Thursday.

The letter read candidates will have to submit their nomination papers by December 31 to contest the Dhaka North and South City polls slated for January 30 next year. Election Commission has given decision to take measures to keep all banks under Dhaka city open next Friday and Saturday.
