RMG workers block highway for arrears

Ready-made garment (RMG) workers have taken to the street in city's Uttara demanding their salary arrears.

The workers of Top Jeans factory blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Abdullahpur on Saturday noon.

Severe gridlock was seen on both sides of the road as vehicular movement came to halt due to the blockade.

Uttara Model Police Station officer in-charge Nur-e-Alam Siddique told Jago News that a garment fatory workers took position on road and obstructed vehicles to ply seeking their salary arrears.

They have talked to protesters and are trying to convince them to leave the road for vehicular movement, the OC added. 

The agitated workers blocked the road till the reported was filed at 2:15pm.
