Weeklong income tax fair begins Tuesday
A weeklong ‘Income Tax Fair’ begins tomorrow in the city and other divisional headquarters across the country aiming to help the taxpayers fill tax returns and facilitate other tax-related works, reports BSS.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the fair at the Officers’ Club in the city. Like the previous years, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) is organising the fair, which will continue till November 19.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate messages on the eve of the week-long income tax fair.
In his message, President Hamid said the government is organizing income tax fair to encourage the people to pay tax and simplify the process of income tax payment.
“NBR adds a new dimension not only to the tax culture but also the national culture through organizing the income tax fair,” he added.
The President urged all concerned to come forward spontaneously to give income tax for expediting the activities of the country’s socioeconomic development.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government introduced the income tax fair in 2010 aiming to make easy the process of paying income tax and create awareness among the people on income tax.
“Taxpayers are getting benefits through the income tax fair which is increasing the revenue collection,” she added.
The fair will also be held in all districts and 32 upazilas. The duration of district level fair will be four days while upazila level fair two days.
Besides, a daylong mobile fair will be held at 70 upazilas across the country.
