Stocks open the week with falling trend
Stocks opened the week down on Sunday as all indices on the country’s two bourses–Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)–were in red zone, reports BSS.
The market turnover and trade volume also declined in DSE as the turnover came down to Taka 804.33 core from the Thursday’s Taka 1064.85 crore while trade volume to 17.40 crore shares from previous session’s 22.14 crore shares.
DSEX, a key index of DSE, shed 36.44 points to close at 5464.18 and two other indices-DS-30 lost 8.79 points to settle at 1911.09 while Shariah index-DSES 6.15 points to close at 1265.22.
Out of a total 336 traded issues at DSE, 81 issues gained against 219 losing securities.
Top five gainers on the day were Fine Food, Intech Limited, Republic Insurance, Global Insurance and BFS Thread Dying. Dragon Sweater, Sandhani Life Insurance, EXIM Bank First Mutual Fund, EBL 1st Mutual Fund and PHP Mutual Fund were the top five losers on DSE.
At the port city the CSE closed the day with falling trend as the All Share Price Index-CASPI lost 125.97 points to settle at 16873.83.
Losers dominated the day’s trading as out of 240 traded issues, 51 gained against 164 losing chips. A total of 86.62 shares worth Tk 29.16 crore exchanged hands on the day.
