Stocks close week down

Stocks finished the week down on Thursday with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges despite the daily transaction rise, reports BSS.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 43.18 points down at 5,362.28. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 33.49 points down at 1,926.46 and with 2.48 points down at 1,261.32 respectively.

Out of the 344 issues traded at the DSE today, 163 issues gained against 162 losing issues. During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 7.90 percent to Taka 764.17 crore and the average trade volume rose by 6.3 percent to 16.78 crore shares.

The top five gainers of the week were Legacy Footwear, Dragon Sweater and Spinning, Aziz Pipes, Tosrifa Industries and Pacific Denims.

The major losing issues of the week were Peoples Leasing and Fin Service, Standard Ceramic Industries, Modern Dyeing and Screen Printing, MIDAS Financing and Pharma Aids.

The top five turnover leaders were Bashundhara Paper Mills, Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, Monno Ceramic Industries and Alif Industries.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down with its major CASPI index ending 53.67 points lower at 16,504.84.
