Muhith to place budget at Jatiya Sangsad Thursday

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place the national budget for the next fiscal (2018-19) at Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday, which will be the country’s 47th national budget.

The veteran Finance Minister is going to set a rare example in the country’s history by placing his 10th national budget in a row, a press release of Finance Ministry said.

This will be Muhith’s overall 12th national budget placement in Jatiya Sangsad while it is the last budget for the present Awami League government in its 2nd successive term.

Muhith will place the budget at Jatiya Sangsad from 12:30 pm.

From that moment, the budget speech; the budget in brief; annual financial statement; supplementary financial statement; mid-term macroeconomic policy statement; flourished children: prosperous Bangladesh; Child Budget 2018-19; March towards Digital Bangladesh: Update 2018; Budget statement 2018-19 for climate protection and development; Gender budget statement; consolidated fund receipt; Bangladesh Economic Survey, 2018; Combined demand for grants (operations and development); Detailed budget (development); mid-term budgetary framework, and SoE budget summary for FY19 will be published on the designated websites as well as will be supplied from Jatiya Sangsad.

Besides, the activities of the banking, insurance and financial institutions for the year 2017-18 prepared by the Bank and Financial Institutions Division will be placed in Jatiya Sangsad.

Like the previous year, the Finance Minister will make the budget presentation through a power-point, which will be made available on the website of the Finance Division - www.mof.gov.bd.

The budget documents will also be available on www.bangladesh.gov.bd, www.nbr-bd.org, www.plancomm.gov.bd, www.imed.gov.bd, www.bdpressinform.org, www.pmo.gov.bd and www.bdnews24.com.

All the received opinions and recommendations will be considered.

Muhith will speak at a post-budget press conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on June 8 (Friday) at 2:30 pm.
