2-day “E-commerce Promotional Expo” begins

A two-day “E-commerce Promotional Expo” began on Friday in the city to promote the local businesses, which are based on e-commerce, and make their presence in the international market.

Senior Vice-President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Kamrul Islam inaugurated the expo as the chief guest at Gulshan’s Khazana Gardenia Garnd Hall in the city, said a press release.

Secretary General of Association of Mobile Telephone Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) TIM Nurul Kabir was present as special guest.

Kamrul Islam said there are huge clients for the e-commerce sector in Bangladesh as more than 85.5 million internet users and about 150 million mobile users in the country.

“E-commerce business is flourishing day by day in the country, but it needs a platform. For a suitable platform, we need adequate digital infrastructure,” he added. Chief Executive Officer of the Platinum Events Junayet H Khan said the scope of expansion of e-commerce in Bangladesh is truly huge but to take proper advantage of this opportunity various infrastructural and systematic improvements must take place including quality assurance and policy guidelines.

About 60 top online shops of Bangladesh from five categories, like clothing, shoes, make-up, accessories and home ware items, are exhibiting their products in the expo.
