Banglalink road show to aware for Biometric SIM re-verification
Country’s second largest telecommunication service provider Banglalink has organized a daylong roadshow nationwide, in purpose of developing awareness regarding Biometric SIM re-verification.
Starting from the opposite of Gate -1 in Bangladesh Secretariat Building (In front of Osmani Auditorium) at 10 AM on Sunday towards Cross-Section of High-Court-Dhaka University, finally ended at Press Club.
The road show was inaugurated by state minister of the Post and Telecommunications Division, Tarana Halim MP.
At the end of the road show, a press conference was arranged at the National Press Club. Shihab Ahmed, CCO of Banglalink was also present on the road show and the press conference.
For the sake of national and individual security, Post and Telecommunications Division has taken up the initiative of SIM re-verification through fingerprint collection procedure (Biometric).
In accordance with Banglalink’s commitment of establishing digital Bangladesh, its employees and subscribers participated in Biometric SIM re-verification with remarkable enthusiasm.
Since the biometric SIM re-verification started on December 2015, so far more than 16 million users have already participated in this re-verification process, which covers almost 49% of total number of Banglalink users.
State minister of the Post and Telecommunications Division, Tarana Halim MP quoted that, “Biometric SIM re-verification has been imposed and spreading rapidly in order to eliminate the fake account holders and fight against the unregistered SIM usage. For ensuring success of this initiative, various telecom service provider companies have undertaken several action plans. I am optimistic that the Road show initiated by Banglalink will succeed to add a new edge for creating awareness for biometric SIM re-verification.”
Regarding the road show, CCO of Banglalink, Shihab Ahmed said that, Biometric SIM re-verification is a significant phase for the Telecom industry of Bangladesh.
Banglalink has been pioneer in driving SIM re-verification since December across the country. Including 7 divisions of Bangladesh, in all districts, Banglalink’s road show will spread Biometric SIM re-verification.”
He added that’ “Banglalink Biometric SIM re-verification do not store fingerprint of any subscriber and so we urge all subscribers to do their SIM re-verification within given time without any concern or speculation."
In Mymensingh, the road show started from the Rail Station Pint at 10am and ended at Mymensingh Town Hall Moor. Key local persons along with Banglalink officials were present in the road show.
In Sylhet, the road show started from Mendibagh at 10am and ended at Ambarkhana Point. Along with other guests, Divisional Commissioner Jamal Uddin was also present.
In Rajshahi, the road show started from Alupotty at 10am and ended at C&B Moor. Along with other guests, President, Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce Md Moniruzzaman were also present.
In Chittagong, the road show started from Jamal Khan Road at 10am and end at Hathazari. Along with other guests, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation AJM Nasiruddin was also present.
In Barisal the road show started from Hatem Ali College Chow Math at 4pm and ended at Rupatoli-Sador road-Notullabad. Key local persons along with Banglalink officials were present in the road show.
In Khulna the road show started from Shibbari moor at 10am and ended at Dakbangla More to Sonadanga Bus Stand. Along with other guests, Divisional Commissioner Abdus Samad was also present.
In Rangpur the road show started from Townhall and ended at Zilla School Moor. Key local persons along with Banglalink officials were present in the road show.
