Stocks maintain upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trends on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up on higher transactions.

The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 551.71 crore from Tuesday's Taka 371.42 crore and the daily trade also rose to 12.78 crore share from 9.87 crore share of the previous session.

The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 18.90 points up at 6,186.47. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with  16.46 points up at 2,261.39 and with 7.57 points up at 1,379.60.

At DSE, out of the day's 335 securities, prices of 91 securities closed higher against 149 losing issues.The major gaining issues were Lafarge Surma Cement, Olympic, PHARMAID, PTL and Ghail. The major losing issues were Progressive Life, Emerald Oil, Meghna Petroleum, SEMLIBBLSF and Megcon Milk.

Lafarge Surma Cement topped the turnover list followed by Olympic, Islami Bank, PTL and NAHEEACP.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 39.08 points up at 19,122.94. At CSE, 240  issues were traded. Of those, 70 closed higher and 133 closed lower.
