Kaymu releases research on online shopping

Bangladesh’s number one online shopping community Kaymu.com.bd recently released a highlighting e-commerce and online shopping trends in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh’s online industry is still in its early days, hence, a lot of factors have yet to be determined regarding the trends of the country’s online industry.

This e-commerce report released by Kaymu.com.bd gives a detailed insight into the consumer behavior and their approach to online shopping, as well as discussing some key findings of internet usage in the country.

Through the research conducted by Kaymu and the facts collated, it can be observed that the most actively involved e-commerce users in Bangladesh fall under the age bracket of 25-34 years.

The report also reveals that over 80 percent of ecommerce traffic in Bangladesh comes from the country’s three major cities, Dhaka with 35% of total traffic, closely followed by Chittagong at 29%, and Gazipur with 15% of total e-commerce activity each year. When talking about the gender divide, the report observes that out of the total e-commerce activities carried out, 83% comprised of male users, with females involved in only 17% of the total activity.

The Kaymu report also revealed that new users are also being attracted to online shopping. New online shopping visitors stand at 49% of the total traffic, while returning visitors are 51%.

E-commerce trends across Bangladesh shows that online customers in Bangladesh are mostly interested in searching about and purchasing consumer electronics & mobile Phones.

The report also looks into the device and operating systems being used by online buyers. Around 71 % online browsers use either a desktop computer or laptop followed by mobile phones and tablets with 26% and 3% respectively. Hence, it comes as no surprise that almost 69% of the users access online shopping websites via Windows operating system. It is then followed by android and other operating systems including iOS, Macintosh, Linux, Windows Phone, BlackBerry & Nokia OS.
