Customs launches digital website to facilitate overseas trade
All customs related services and information, including baggage rules, duty facilities, tariff list and information of outgoing passengers and list of duty-free products will now be available
online as the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched a digital website.
State minister for finance and planning MA Mannan inaugurated the website at a programme held at a city hotel today.
"As the economic development is the first priority of the government, it has taken steps to create a business friendly atmosphere. Technology is being used to make available all trade related services," said Mannan.
He said customs has been digitized as part of the government's move to modernize different departments to facilitate businesses in the country.
The website of the customs has been developed with financial and technical assistance of the USAID.
Chief of USAID's Bangladesh Trade Facilitation Activity Md Khairuzzaman Mazumder made a presentation on the new website.
NBR chairman Md Nojibur Rahman, USAID Mission Director Janina Jaruzelski, NBR member Khandker Aminur Rahman and FBCCI's acting president Nizam Uddin, among others, attended the website launching programme.
