NBR to continue online VAT registration

National Board of Revenue (NBR) will continue online VAT registration and businesses that have already collected e-BIN or new nine digit registration number will have to run their activities as per the new system.

But the businesses which still did to collect e-BIN or nine digit registration number will be able to operate their activities by using the old 11-digit Value Added Tax (VAT) registration up to December 31, 2017, the NBR said in a public notice issued here today.

But these businesses must take e-BIN or nine digit registration number by December 31, 2017 to operate their activities, it said.

"NBR is giving online VAT registration so that businesspeople can run their activities in a hassle-free environment. Re-registration and fresh registration facilities are available at the NBR," said deputy project director of the VAT online project Md Zakir Hossain.

According to the NBR, the government held up the enforcement of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012 but online VAT registration will continue and businesses will have to take e-BIN for smooth operation of their activities.
