DSE, CSE down at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downward trend in early hour of trading Thursday amid volatility, the last trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 14.0 points or 0.31 per cent to 4,559.32, after first 30 minutes of the trade, when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Two other indices also saw negative trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 7.23 points or 0.41 per cent to 1,739.88. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 3.99 points or 0.36 per cent to stand at 1,104.87.

Turnover stood at only Tk 334 million on the premier bourse when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded till then, 47 advanced, 127 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

RAK Ceramics was the most traded stocks till then with shares BDT 23 million changing hands followed by City Bank, IT Consultants, Appollo Ispat and Linde BD.

The port city bourse –CSE also saw negative trend with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – shedding 8.59 points to at 8,553.42.

Of the issues traded till then, 26 gained, 41 declined and 14 remained unchanged on the CSE with a turnover value of Tk 24 million. -FE
