DSE, CSE up at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading Thursday, the last trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 13.75 points or 0.29 per cent to 4,599.73, after first 30 minutes of the trade, when the report was filed at 11:00am.

The two other indices also opened higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 7.61 points or 0.43 per cent to 1,740.29.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 4.16 points or 0.37 per cent to stand at 1,111.02.

Turnover stood at Tk 518 million on the premier bourse when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded till then, 128 advanced, 54 declined and 40 remained unchanged.

Alltex Industries was the most traded stocks till then with shares BDT 59 million changing hands followed by Al-Arafa Islami Bank, IT Consultants, BD Thai Aluminum and Emerald Oil.

The port city bourse –CSE also saw positive trend with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – advancing 13.69 points to 8,592.74, also at 11am.

Of the issues traded till then, 48 gained, 21 declined and 18 issues remained unchanged on the CSE with a turnover value of Tk 29 million. -FE
