BB governor asks bankers to create new entrepreneurs

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman asked both the public and private sector bankers to put in their best efforts for creating new entrepreneurs, including female ones, for infusing furthermore dynamism into the country`s economy, BSS reports.

He came up with the suggestion while sharing views with the new entrepreneurs and heads of all the scheduled banks here in the conference hall of BB Rajshahi Branch as chief guest on Saturday.

With BB Executive Director Zinnatul Bakeya in the chair, BB Executive Director Muniruzzaman, managing director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Monzur Ahmed and adviser of National Bank Limited Washif Ali Khan also spoke.

Atiur Rahman told the bankers that Bangladesh attained 6.51 percent growth in last fiscal and the growth rate will be higher in the current fiscal.

He mentioned that the role of entrepreneurs is commendable in this regard.

The role of women, especially in the SME sector, is highly appreciable as they are making a commendable contribution to the regional economy; the governor said and asked the bankers to create more women entrepreneurs.
