Stocks down at opening

The prices of most of the shares on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend in early hour of trading on Thursday, the last session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 3.19 points or 0.06 per cent to 4,666.31, after first 30 minutes of the trade, when the report was filed at 11:00am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 2.97 points or 0.16 per cent to 1,752.90.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 1.86 points or 0.16 per cent to stand at 1,120.59.

Turnover stood at Tk 590 million on the premier bourse when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded till then, 90 advanced, 95 declined and 50 remained unchanged.

Alltex Industries was the most traded stocks till then with shares Tk 53 million changing hands followed by IT Consultants, Malek Spinning, United Power and Dacca Dyeing.

The port city bourse –CSE also saw negative trend with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 1.90 points to 8,672.92, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 46 gained, 36 declined and 18 issues remained unchanged on the CSE with a turnover value of Tk 47 million. -FE
