Bangladesh, US to hold TICFA meeting on Wednesday

The third round of TICFA meeting between Bangladesh and the United States will be held at the state guest house Padma on Wednesday.

Commerce secretary Shubhashish Bose will lead Bangladesh side in the meeting of Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (TICFA) while the US side will be led by assistant US Trade representative for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott.

According to a commerce ministry statement secretary of the labour and employment ministry Mikail Shipar and foreign secretary Md Shahidul Haque will be among the 21-member team Bangladesh while the US side comprises 15 members. The meeting will begin at 9am and continue until 5.30pm and will be followed by a press briefing at the venue.

The TICFA, a platform to discuss bilateral trade and investment issues between Bangladesh and the USA, was signed on November 25, 2013. The first TICFA meeting was held in Dhaka on April 26, 2014 and the second one took place in Washington on November 23, 2015.

Bilateral issues including Bangladesh`s access to US market, technology transfer, digital economy and US investment for Bangladesh`s infrastructure development are expected to come up for discussion.
