Stocks open mix amid hartal

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened mixed trend in early hour of trading Thursday amid day-long countrywide hartal enforced by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 0.11point to 4,679.91, after first 30 minutes of the trade, when the report was filed at 11:00 am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 1.57 points or 0.08 per cent to 1,776.56.

However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 0.63 points or 0.05 per cent to stand at 1,128.02.

Turnover stood at Tk 998 million on the premier bourse when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded till then, 82 advanced, 105 declined and 50 remained unchanged.

Aftab Automobiles was the most traded stocks till then with shares BDT 92 million changing hands followed by United Power, Beximco, Beximco Pharma and Bengal Windsor.

The port city bourse –CSE saw negative trend with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – shedding 0.32points to 8,668.05, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 36 gained, 55 declined and 14 remained unchanged on the CSE with a turnover value of Tk 45 million. -FE
