DSE turnover crosses Tk 6b-mark
Stocks rebounded on Tuesday with turnover on the premier bourse crossing Tk 6.0 billion-mark after one month as optimistic investors went on buying spree.
The market opened with a positive mood and the upward trend sustain till end of the session, eventually, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 4,643.25, gaining 25.52 points or 0.55 per cent. The two other indices also closed higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 7.51 points or 0.42 per cent to settle at 1,764.07. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 5.83 points or 0.52 per cent to close at 1,118.33. Turnover on the DSE crossed Tk 6.0 billion-mark after one month to Tk 6.08 billion, which was 38.18 per cent higher than the previous session’s Tk 4.40 billion.
The gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 324 issues traded, 204 closed higher, 83 lower and 37 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. Beximco dominated the turnover chart for the three consecutive sessions with 8.52 million shares worth Tk 269 million changing hands followed by IFAD Autos, Beximco Pharma, KDS Accessories and Emerald Oil. Khulna Paper and Printing was the day’s best performer, posting a rise of 9.52 per cent while Shympur Sugar Miils was the worst loser, plunging 7.57 per cent.
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – advancing 51.55 points to close at 8,638.54. Gainers beat losers 149 to 71, with 24 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 12.02 million shares and mutual fund units with a value of Tk 386 million. -FE
