DSE, CSE open positive

Both bourses – the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive on Thursday, after previous day’s mild correction, the last trading session of the week.

The benchmark index of the DSE –DSEX went up by 8.31 points or 0.18 per cent to 4,597.06, after first 30 minutes of the trade, when the report was filed at 11:00 am. The two other indices also saw positive trend at opening. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 1.44 points or 0.08 per cent to 1,742.26. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.51 points or 0.22 per cent to stand at 1,104.93.

DSE turnover stood Tk 434 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 123 advanced, 41 declined and 42 remained unchanged. M I Cement Company was the most traded stock till then with shares worth BDT 36 million changing hands followed by Mithun Knitting, Quasem Drycells, Anlima Yarn and Dyeing and Titas Gas.

The port city bourse –CSE— also saw positive trend in early hour of trading with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – advancing 8.26 points to stand at 8,517.03, also at 11:00 am. Of the issues traded till then, 47 gained, 20 declined and 7 issues remained unchanged on the CSE with a turnover value of Tk 20 million.
