Messi, Pique and Suarez’s sons join Barcelona

The year is 2035 and Barcelona have just won another treble. Thiago Messi and Benjamin Suarez scored over 100 goals between them, while captain Milan Pique stepped out of his dad’s shadow with a fine season in defence. That is, of course, a long way from becoming a reality, but the first step was taken on Monday when Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique’s sons took part in their first session with the FCBEscola.Mundo Deportivo report that the trio are part of a group of no more than 25 children between the ages of three and five - Thiago and Milan are already three and Benjamin will turn three later this month - and that they will have sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Catalan newspaper adds that the programme’s intention is to familiarise the kids with the ball and instil the Barca DNA in them from an early age. Messi, Pique and Suarez were all reportedly present to see their sons at this week’s first session.Messi had admitted earlier this month that Thiago isn’t much of a footballer yet, though. The Argentine international hopes joining the FCBEScola will help him come out of his shell and develop a love for the game.Maybe spending time with Pique’s son will boost Thiago’s thirst for football. Milan’s mother Shakira revealed last year that her eldest child is already a fanatic.‘Right now, Milan is obsessed with football,’ she said. ‘He’s the biggest Barca fan on the planet. He sleeps with the Barca jersey on, he sleeps with the ball, he doesn’t miss one match. He knows every single team, including England teams. He wears the t-shirt of all the teams.’Time will tell how good Thiago, Benjamin and Milan turn out to be, but if there even half as good as their dads, they won’t be bad.
